On 8th November 2017, Pattan collaborated with LQM and FES to conduct a workshop titles “Crisis of power loom & textile industry GSP + and International Labour standards.” The workshop aimed to to highlight the factors contributing towards the crisis of the textile and powerloom industry and consequently devise concrete solutions to remedy the worsening situation of the industry. The activity was a roundtable amongst different stakeholders in the textile and powerloom industry. All the participants were given 3 minutes to present their views.
The stakeholders included factory workers and owners, traders, representatives of political parties and civil society organisations, and senior officials of government departments – labour, social security and EOBI. After detailed deliberations the participants formed a 21 member tripartite committee consisting of representatives of labour and owners associations. This committee would prepare future course of action.
